Leafy stems twitched and swayed as though they were searching for danger atop the head of a seemingly-young cub. In truth, she was nearing her 200th year of life. She did not know of her centuries of slumber at the bottom of the lake of eternity. Had she known, her timid and cautious nature would be much worse. She was nervously awaiting a visit from her friend, Khuza, as she waited in Kaida's den. The ogre-like lioness was currently away training cubs and did not want Phycodurus to be alone. Phy felt safe around Khuza and was rather excited that he was coming. She was looking forward to his visit, and though it had only be a few minuets, it felt like a day had passed to the cub.

Soon a figure appeared on the rocky horizon. As the lion neared, a pair of long horns could be made out on top of the figures head. Khuza had been walking since the early morning to get to Kaida's den. The den he and his friend Xerxes shared was rather remote and it took a long while for them to travel anywhere. The young warrior walked with long graceful strides as he approached the den and smiled once he spotted Phycodurus. "Hello, Phy! I'm sorry I'm late." He greeted as he walked up to Phycodurus. Unlike other lions who seemed overly cautious around the Cubs that appeared from the Lake, Khuza welcomed them without hesitation and quickly befriended the young cub that stood before him.

As she saw the male approaching, the cub began quivering with joy and excitement. She wanted to rush forward and greet him. To rub against his solid legs and just be close to him. The biggest part of her wanted to, but the part of her that controlled her actions compelled her to stay where she stood. Her leafy tail rose as he neared, a large smile lighting her face. "Khuza! You're finally here!" she squeaked out, unable to keep from giving a tiny jump. She knew how the other lions viewed her- as unnatural and as a monster- but she also knew how he viewed her. He was her friend, and one of the only ones she had. "What are we gonna do today? Any new stories?"

The young fire lion smiled warmly at the cub's excitement. He was silently pleased that she seemed to be adjusting to her new life well, "We can do whatever you want." Khuza said leaning down and touching his nose to the top of Phycodurus' head to get her to calm down, "I'm not sure if i have any new and exciting stories this time. Xerxes has been getting worse, so I haven't been able to stay in battle that long lately." Khuza didn't go into detail on Xerxes' condition, the other male was one of those who looked down upon the cubs like Phycodurus. In truth, the other reason why Khuza was so late was because Xerxes had tried to convince him not to go. "Anyway, has Kaida already left? I assume she has, I'm so late."

It's fine! Things have been busy for me, too. ______________________________________________________________ Phycodurus did calm down some when he touched her head, but only because she had been touched. She was still terribly shy and rather nervous. "Yeah, Kai's gone," she said, turning around and glancing into the cave before turning back to the brown lion before her, "but that's okay! She knows you live far, far away." It was at this point the cub began weaving in and out of his legs, relieving her mounting excitement, and rubbing against his front right. She stopped, leaned against his leg in mid-rub, and looked up at him. "I wish you didn't live so far away, Khuza.. I like spending time you." Her voice was so innocent, yet carried a heaviness in it that told she knew of hardship. Whether she knew of them or not. Phycodurus never minded waiting on her friend to arrive, not did she ever really wonder why it took so long. Any being who knew the cub closely would certainly know that if she knew of Xerxes' feelings toward her that her view on the time would be much different. She padded from between his legs, turning to look back at him with huge, pale yellow eyes. She really did like this lion. She thought he was simply amazing.

Khuza chuckled a little as Phycodurus played around his paws. He tilted his head down so as to look at her while she was talking. "I know. I'm sorry for living so far, but I'm always happy to make the trip to see you." The fire lion looked down at her as she stopped at his front paw. "I'll try to come more often if you'd like. I could help Kaida teach you how to use your fire abilities." he said, sitting down after Phy was clear of his legs. Khuza rarely had the free time to do much on their home world when he returned from war,yet he would never let Phy know that. How he wished Xerxes liked her. Khuza really enjoyed his time with the young lioness and loved seeing the shy cub smile. And, if Xerxes didn't mind Phycodurus, Khuza could invite her to his own den.

"I wish you could, but Kai tells me you're awefully busy. She says' there's a really bad war waging on right now, and that all the warriors have to go fight in it.." she told him, her tail swishing and stirring a small dust cloud behind her, "She told me that when she told me why her tail was the way it was. She said that she lost her tail in the war, and that she had to become a cub trainer because she couldn't fight in it anymore.." Phy was looking off into the distance at this point, staring off at seemingly nothing. She rose to her paws, kneeding her front paws in the dust briefly before looking back at him. "But yeah! I'd really like it if you could help me with my fire element!" she chirped happily, "I'm not very good with it yet.."

The horned lion flinched slightly when she mentioned the battle which cost Kaida her tail. He remembered that one well, but because of Xerxes' rapidly decreasing condition, he was forced to flee with his friend just before the battle ended. He was devastated when he learned what the fight had cost them. But the sandy colored lion shook his head to clear his head of such depressing thoughts and smiled a little to cheer Phycodurus up, "Yes the war is fairly bad, but our warriors are skilled." He got to his paws when Phy responded to his training suggestion, "It's okay! I wasn't so good when I first started training either." He shook the dust from his fur befor looking back at her with a warm smile. "So what do you want to do today? We could train a little later."

"Yeah, just like you!" she nearly cheered. It was clear she thought the world of Khuza, and she believed that he could never be harmed. The millennia-old cub just knew that her friend could never be hurt or ill. Despite her age, she was terribly naïve. "If you wanna train later, that's okay with me." Phycodurus told him, trotting at his side, "Have you seen any new beasties lately on your travels?" She was mostly curious about what he had to say in terms of tales from his battles. She loved hearing about the new creatures and plants he had seen.

Khuza couldn't help but continue to smile. Even though Phycodurus had only been around for a short time, the warrior had become very fond of her and was willing to do anything for her. Looking back on it, Khuza was a little glad he left that dreadful battle early, he could have very well been one of those who lost their lives fighting, and might never have met Phycodurus. "Yes I've seen quite a few on my most recent travels to other planets," he replied, he waved his tail for her to follow him, he wanted to find a nice grassy patch to rest his paws while telling little Phy of his adventures. "There was this one creature that I saw a few battles ago. My regiment and I were setting up camp on a foreign world when we first caught sight of it." Khuza said, talking as he walked along. "It was strange. Had two more legs than us and looked sort of like a Taxon: sleek and long legged, but it lacked horns."

Found out that Ethereal's Sand will be available in the up-coming event. I'm going to try to gather enough or trade for enough to have Phy aged into an adult. I'm super excited!! <3 ___________________________________________________________________ "Wow, that does sound strange!" the tope-faced cub squeaked, adding on that the creature also sounded scary, "Did you decide to call it something? Other than spooky, that is." Her question came almost as though she expected him to name every off-world creature he came across. Well, those that didn't already have names. Phycodurus' pale yellow eyes shown up at him as she trotted by his side trying to keep up. "Khuza, do you think that I'll ever grown into my adult form?" she asked suddenly, straying from the male's side and into the shade of rock ledge. The leafy cub did not look at him as she spoke nor when she sat down. It was apparent she was worried about what would become of her. "I'm almost 200 years old, and I know Ecko grew up, but do you think I will?" Phycodurus' voice cracked as she spoke and dust stirred beneath her shifting paw. She knew something was different about her and the rest of the lake cubs as well, and even though the first lion to emerge from the lake grew up, she had an unfortunate sinking feeling they were very different. She hoped that perhaps her friend knew a little more about herself than she did.

Ooooooooo! I cant wait to see her as an adult!
Khuza laughed, "It was a little strange and a little spooky, but I thought they were rather beautiful as well. Sadly we didn't have the time to name it with a battle going on. There hasn't been much time to name any of the new creatures we have found due to the war." He slowed his pace a little, he'd forgotten about how short the she-cub's legs were compared to his. The fact that Phycodurus also acted like an adult lion at times didn't make it any easier to remember she was still a cub.
Phycodurus's next comment only proved this even more. Khuza stopped walking when Phy mentioned changing into her adult form. The young warrior marveled at how great the leafy cub's intelligence was, and was even more amazed at the fact that she was worrying if she was going to grow up or not. Khuza's icy blue eyes calmly met Phycodurus' and he gave her a soft smile. "Of course you'll grow up, Phy." he said and went and sat beside her, "The one thing that all lions have in common, no matter where they're from, is that they grow up." he wrapped his tail around her to try to comfort her. Khuza was only a decade or so older than Phy, but he could still remember when he was a cub and worrying about what would happen when he became an adult. "You will grow up Phy, don't you worry." A sudden wave of fear washed over Khuza as he thought about what would happen when Phy grew up. What if she is made a warrior... As a warrior himself, Khuza knew first had the dangers of war and battle. Just the thought of his little Phycodurus being sent off to battle sent shivers down his spine.

I know!! I am so excited. _________________________________________________________________________________________
Phycodurus smiled up at him as she trotted at his side. That was another thing she liked about the warrior lion. He always saw beauty in even the strangest of things. It always made her feel.. proud.. to be so close to him. To be his friend. She was appreciative when he followed, sitting by her side and even pulling her close. She nestled closer into his comforting touch. "Maybe.. I hope you're right, Khuz.." she mewled, "I wanna just be a member of the pride and not leave the planet. Thinking of all those lions fighting.. Thinking of you fighting.. It scares me, and I don't want to be a part of that." She knew that her goal was also achievable if she were a cub forever, but she wanted to gain her adult form like every other lion. She was different enough as it was, and she saw the way the other lions looked at her. Phycodurus didn't want something else that would make her even more strange to the lions.

Khuza's warm smile faded slightly as she talked of wanting the fighting to stop. He turned his eyes to the path ahead of him. He didn't have the heart to tell her that there will always be fighting, and that even if one war or battle is over, there will always be another. Khuza sighed, It's very likely that I will die in battle, not many warriors live long enough to die a natural death... He thought to himself. However, not wanting to worry Pychodurus, Khuza quickly returned the smile to his face, "Don't you worry Phy! If it really means that much to you, I'm sure the pride will allow you to be a prides member when you grow up." He said as he gently nudged the she-cub with his muzzle.
(I totally forgot where they're going)
