Aurora let out a stifled laugh as the meat in her jaws swung wildly from side to side. Her strides were long and graceful but she was not trying to get away from Jacques, just trying for a little fun. The female glanced behind just as Jacques lept and took hold of her haunches. Without much trouble, the female toppled over, grinning proudly as she did so before dropping their meal. "Nice catch" she said lightly before nudging the carcass towards the male. "You know, you could have just told me you wanted to share!" Aurora couldn't help but burst out laughing at that point, her games now out in the air.

As she fell, he went with her, rolling out of the way as to avoid being landed on. He stuck out his tongue at her before nuzzling her cheek. "That was the whole point of such a large piece." he murmured, a slight purr rumbling in his throat, "I thought you were smarter than that, Aurora." Jacques took a mouthful from the chunk of meat, shoving it back at her. His tail swished behind him, stirring the still ground under them.

Aurora gave him a stern yet playful look. "You dare insult me sir! I have you know..." her words paused as she rose to her feet. "I am very smart. Smarter than you most likely" The female then continued to nudge the male in a joking manner before dipping her head for a bite. With her mouth still full she continued, "Well, I thought it was just for me anyways....i mean I could eat all of the beast whole had I been hunting on my own. I have a big stomach" she stated before gulping down the rest of the food in her mouth.

His purr faltered in laughter. "And to think- just some time last moon you were complaining about there being too much for your- and I quote- 'small, delicate stomach'." he mused, shoving it back toward her. Jacques wasn't too terribly hungry anyway. The meat was mostly for Aurora. He was just teasing.

"Well, I am now a highly, sophisticated, malicious killer. And all killers need their food, do they not?" She winked before diving in for another large mouthful. "Besides, a good and proper lady knows when to shovel her face full of food from time to time." Aurora then grew quiet, taking her time to consume the rest of her meal before rolling back into the grass. "Where did you go hunting at? The game is pretty scarce this time of year..."

The caramel-colored lion watched the female as she wolfed down the meat, smiling warmly at her. Her question shook him from his thoughts. "I was along the boarder and just got lucky." he told her, rising to his paws and moving closer to her. Jacques then began grooming the blood from her face, cleaning her beautiful, white coat.

Aurora gave him a inquisitive look from her meat. "Lucky? Hmmm okay......if you say so." She finally finished gulping down her food before beginning to groom her now red covered pelt. Her tongue moved methodically along her paws and legs while loosing herself to her own private thoughts.

Jacques watched her for a bit, the silence dragging on until it was enough. "Aurora." he began, "You know you mean so much to me- the world to me- and well.." He stopped himself right there, scuffing a paw on the ground, "And well, I love you, Aurora. I love you more than life itself." He looked at her as he confessed his love.

The female who had been contentedly licking her fur looked up, tongue still in half lick on her fore-paw. A look of utter uncertainty leaped across her face and then quickly vanished. It was soon replaced by that playful, everything you say is a game, face. Aurora gave a half hearted laugh. "Come on now Jacques. Don't you start this with me. You did this before when Ronin and Aeon died and were out of your wits. Your just saying that again because you are worried about our next battle...." Her voice trailed off, silently hoping she was right. "I am going to be fine. Now please stop spewing such nonsense and lets get moving." She persisted, standing up finally with a half done grooming job and a confused look upon her face.

The brownish male shook his head. "No, Aurora. That was then- this is now. I love you." he murmured, lowering his gaze now. She thought he didn't mean it, but that didn't meant he was going to give up. He had liked her since before the Civil War, but he kept it at bay, choosing to only remain her friend. It only grew and grew, and Jacques could stand it no more. "I truly love, you, Aurora. With all of my being.."

The haughty female froze as she was about to take her first step. Love? What creature could ever love a female like her. She was neither a good person or a suitable mate. She enjoyed causing trouble, spilling blood. Did he expect her to just mush and have her heart flutter with the thought of love. No. Now was not the time for this. Aurora shook her head defiantly. "Jacques Please! Now is not the time for stuff like this. We are in a WAR. Look around you. Now is the worst time to be confessing love ballads is it not?" Her nostrils flared, her temper raging even though she knew not why. Instead of being happy as she should have been about this announcement, her walls of ice began to form in her mind. She became eerily quiet, regaining her ability to walk and started to make her way towards the caverns of the mountain. "It's time for training."

Jacques sighed, deciding to drop the subject for now. Clearly this wasn't the time for her. He did not allow his tail to drop, though it grew heavy. "Alright.. I'm due for patrol now, anyway.." he murmured, turning and padding the opposite direction. Her rejection was disheartening, but he would not let that sway him. Eventually he turned his paws in the direction of where he was to meet his patrol-mates. He was going to be early, as his patrol wasn't due for a few hours later. He kicked a pebble with his paw, listening to it as it clattered into the unknown lands until it stopped. _________________________________________________________ Shh. He was wearing his armour when we began...

Aurora kept walking, trying to keep herself from looking back and ruining her act. Aurora didn't know what to feel about Jacques. He was her friend. And the war was going on. What on earth was he thinking spouting stuff like that. She sighed heavily before heading into the den to grab her armor. With a huff the female lugged her armor onto her back and latching them into place. Her actions were full of anger and frustration, and when she couldn't get her helmet on she chucked it against the wall before parading from the cavern.
The female made her way hastily towards the training grounds, making sure to keep her head down in case Jacques was around. She didn't want anymore conversations at the moment. 8 other lions awaited her at the grounds, all sitting on their haunches to be paired up, she quickly following suit....thus the lessons commenced.

The male greeted the other patrol as they passed, telling them he had nothing better to do and that more boarder protection was better than none at all. It was only half way true. Jacques sighed, looking out into the unknowns. Cat-like shadows could be seen darting about, but nothing came too close to the boarder. So long as that was maintained, they could remain unharmed. The young male's mind began to wander, trying to think. While watching the shadows dance, he did manage to come to some form of a conclusion. Aurora knew of his love for her, if she wanted to be his mate, he would wait for her to ask him. If she never asked, then so be it. At least she would know and he would have lived without that burden.

The instructor paired two at a time for combat. The rest were positioned like a ring around the outside. This training was common practice and gave the lions a good idea of what fighting an enemy beyond the boarder would be like. However, Aurora was more than familiar and was only here to let off steam. She was the first to engage against a light elemental. It was a male fresh out of cubhood. He looked horrified at the idea of fighting Aurora, given her reputation. But the instructor placed them together anyways. A roar was sounded signaling the start of the fight.
Aurora did not hesitate to engage and was already throwing ice spikes towards the kid. He scrambled out of the way before the ice hit the ground, lodging them deep into the earth. The male attempted to let off a beam of light as a distraction, but she was too fast, creating a glacier sized ice block beneath his feet and throwing him out of the ring and into the dust. She let out a low growl, followed by an un-amused huff. The instructor looked at her bewildered before speaking. "You realize that was a kid right?! What the heck is wrong with you!" He spouted. Aurora just glared at him before leaving per request.
