RP between starry-knight's Rei and my Jet.
---
Little Jet gave a yawn, casually wandering across slatey rocks, her ears pressed flat against her skull. The cub was relaxed, the fur on her shoulders lying flat as she wandered across the stones. Suddenly, she took to tiptoeing, pussyfooting along and practicing her sneaking. After all, it wasn’t like she wanted to be caught by any busybody adults or her interfering siblings. Another large yawn split the creature’s grey-brown muzzle, and she swished her pronged tail once more twice. It was a good day – not for her, but for those around her. Jet was, in fact, sleepy, and the young hellion was millions of times easier to manage when she was sleepy. A patch of sunlight streamed down from the heavens, beaming onto the stone and warming it.
With surprising ease and agility, the youngling launched herself forwards, neatly hopping onto the ledge that was illuminated by the sunbeam. Chirping, like a house cat would at seeing a bird, Jet settled her haunches onto the sun warmed stone, giving a little mewl of contentment. Although the ledge would be too small for a full grown lion, it could comfortable fit one slender cub, and perhaps even two if the pair were comfortable with squishing together somewhat. Still, while alone, the cub was happy to sprawl out, rolling slightly to expose her belly fluff towards the sunlight. Purring in contentment as the sun warmed her little belly, she flopped her head to the warm grey rock, comfort oozing through her body.

Rei was off doing her own thing, ignoring the glares and the muffled whispers of the lions she passed on by. The female had a reputation now among-st the pride, anger being the hot point of any rumor but always including her lack of elemental gifts as the follow up. Every moment it seemed she was trying to prove them wrong....at least in regards to the lack of element. However, nothing seemed to impress them and even when she was left bleeding and broken they still mocked her as a weak link.
Rei continued along her path down a worn part of the mountainside, into a little cavern hidden from most wandering eyes. Inside, Rei had a collection of sparring dummies, ranging from a rock to a stick that she had collected along the way. She took a deep breath, letting her mind go blank, and waiting for an elemental attack that never came....

Her perch in the sunlight provided a good view down the slopes and towards the sparkling cerulean water. It also provided her with a spy-like view of a cub, probably about Jet's age, who trotted along a worn path and disappeared into an unknown hole in the side of the rock. Perhaps, if the colourfully marked cub had been in the warmth and relaxation of the sunlight for just a little longer, she'd have ignored the stranger. Perhaps, if she'd tended towards going to class more, and running rampant less, she'd have heard the rumours the others whispered behind the stranger's back. As it was, Jet knew nothing of the blue-marked stranger, so with silent paws, she leapt down from her ledge. It took a few minutes of scrabbling over loose rock and sheer drops, but soon enough the wily cub was on the worn path. Putting her best slink to use, she quietly inched towards the place where she had seen the other cub disappear. There was a small cavern.
Poking her inquisitive amber gaze into the cave, she saw a range of different shaped items, along with a stray spirit, and the cub she'd seen earlier. Hunching down, Jet flattened herself to the ground, slithering along as quietly as possible, as if she were hunting prey. However, her target happened to be the cub from earlier, who foolishly stood with her back turned, breathing heavily. After a few moments of slinking, with a yowling battle-cry, Jet launched herself at the pale cub, trying to tackle her down by her haunches.

Rei had been deep in thought - trying to harness some sort of elemental power. Though, like every attempt, her tries and dedication were useless. Time and time again her failure continued, bringing Rei to a point of utter frustration. However, in this moment her fleeting dreams of gifts were interrupted by a howling screech from behind.
Instinctively, Rei turned around and stepped to the left just in time to miss an attack coming. Angrily and on guard, Rei hissed in return, batting her right paw at her assailant. "Haven't you all beaten me up enough today!" The tan female screamed out, anger spewing from her gaze. Just below her fierce eyes could be seen a collection of new cuts and bruises - unhappy accident as deemed by the adult lion who had been observing the fight. "Just go away..." Rei insisted, now getting a full look at her opponent who did not look familiar. Though small, this stranger shared a similar resemblance to Rei herself which intrigued her.
With some semblance of relief, Rei relaxed a little. Her face she did not recognize, which means she was not a part of the battle she had been in earlier. That at least was good enough reason to lower her guard.

Her target sidestepped, sending Jet tumbling head over tail in a ball of fur and landing in heap next to one of the carefully placed rocks. Blinking open her amber eyes, a grin split across her face, only to be interrupted by a paw flying through the air. Reacting without thinking, Jet pulled the spirit that had been hovering around to block the blow, forgetting that spirits were incorporeal matter. The paw swept through the spirit who dissipated with an angry hiss, and Jet gave a cackle as the paw smacked her across the face. "Wow. You're fast!" She chirped, before hearing the angry words of the tawny cub. Cuts and bruises danced across the face peering back at Jet, below eyes filled with anger. "Whoa..."
The cub looked as if she'd been hurt by something, so Jet moved forwards, oblivious to the other's discomfort as she tried to lick away some of the blood. Humming to no one in particular, she lapped at the worst of the cuts before moving back and tilting her head, grinning, Rei's blood staining the pale fur around her muzzle pink. "You must be pretty fierce to have been in a battle like that." She stated, swishing her tail happily, amber eyes interested. "I'm Jet. Who're you?"

At first Rei thought she had the upper hand, then suddenly it was the other cub to catch her off guard. Without warning the female moved forward and began licking her wounds. Lapping up the blood like she was taking a leisurely drink of water. Rei scrambled hastily away, wiping a paw over the freshly spilt blood and collection of saliva from her unusual companion. Rei's mouth opened ever so slightly, a look of disgust on her face as she rubbed the remaining remnants of their close encounter away.
"Uhhhh...." Rei's voice cracked out finally, now thoroughly confused. "I would hardly call myself that. Wasn't a fair fight to begin with....It was me against three. How splendid." Her voice firm and resonating with sarcasm. Her haunches now curled in to support her weight as she stared face to face with Jet. Clearing her throat once more Rei nodded as if to acknowledge the female before offering her own name. "I am Rei."

Jet stood, nonplussed, smacking her lips at the taste of the metallic blood. She could see that she'd got this cub of guard, and it pleased her. She liked creating confusion. Holding her smile, she patiently waited for her companion to reply, occasionally swishing her tail or scraping her claws against the earth. When Rei finally gave her name, Jet gave a toothy grin. "Rei..." she said, tasting the name much like she'd tasted her blood moments before. "Well Rei... if it was an unfair fight, is that why you're here?" She glanced around the room, using her tail to gesture at the sparring dummies. "They can't be unfair, can they?"
Sticking her head closer to Rei's for a moment, her amber eyes unblinking, she gave one more swipe of her tongue across the other cub's nose before padding away, circling around Rei and then dropping to a massive stretch, her tail arching over her back as her shoulders ducked down and claws extended. Shaking her body loose after the stretch, she stalked up close to Rei, stopping only millimeters apart. "Teach me to fight." She chirped, neither an order nor a suggestion, but something in between, almost as if she were asking to play.

Rei held her tongue as the other young lioness looked about the cavern to the sparring dummies Rei had set up here. It ashamed her greatly, hiding all of this from the world - from the pride. Feeling so worthless as to hide in a hole and practice alone because no one else would. Sighing, Rei finally nodded to her initial question posed. "Yes- I am here...because the non living have no choice but to be still...and fair...without judgement." Rei now whispered, the moment was a better encounter than had previously been used to - but was lost to the lick that once again plastered her face.
"You really need to stop doing that..." Rei insisted, wiping frantically to remove her saliva from her nose. She flicked the remnants of the goop onto the stone floor, her eyes locking with Jet's as she asked the question of the year. Teach me to fight. Rei was no master, and knew very little - but this was her chance at friendship, even if it came in such a strange package. "Okay." Rei said, a smile spreading on her lips. "Lets learn to fight together?"

Jet shrugged as Rei told her to stop licking her – it wasn’t her fault that the other young lioness didn’t like it. Besides, Jet relished the slight alarm it caused in her companions blue, blue eyes. Blinking her own amber pair, the two locked eyes, and Jet held her gaze, unblinking. If Rei would teach her… well, it was clear from the way the Jet ran from the lessons that her elders gave her that she couldn’t put up with their long, boring lectures and their convoluted explanations for things that didn’t need explaining. However, maybe training with a cub her age would change her outlook.
“Sure, why not?” she chirped in reply, deciding that training and learning as equals would probably result in better times for the both of them. Cocking her delicate head, the young cub gave a genuine smile, liking Rei despite how serious she was. “So, what first?” she asked, tail slowly waving through the air in anticipation.

Rei walked over to her sparring dummies, looking them up and down as Jet talked and contemplated her words. Not much of a teacher, Rei was not sure where to start...in fact she had absolutely no idea, but for the sake of their newfound friendship - she tried to think of something quick. "Maybe some physical fighting?" Rei said finally, flicking her ear nervously. "I-I can't use my element still....so training that way is out of the question..." Her voice now trailing.
"Annnnnnd go!" Rei yelled, charging towards Jet, head lowered and ready to ram into her companions body.

--200 odd years later--
They returned through the portal to their homeworld panting and exhausted. There were families to be greeted, wounds to be treated and hunger to be satisfied. And then came the shockwave, ripping through the atmosphere and nearly toppling Jet. The lioness blinked her amber eyes, waiting for the winds to stop whipping around her. When her vision cleared, the planet was populated entirely differently. There were plants, floating islands, strange trees and scents on the slight breeze. The death lioness was surprisingly unconcerned. She simply shrugged her muscular shoulders before reaching out with her element, testing the life force of the plant life. It tingled, as she stole it, fizzing into her body and revitalizing her limbs. Shaking her pelt, the lioness who smelt of blood and herbs gave a quick once over the lions milling about before her gaze settled on her longtime friend Rei. She forced the quickening of her heart to slow - she knew dear Rei did not feel the same as she did, and while she respected that, some part of her longed for something more. Digging her claws into the ground for a moment as she composed herself, Jet, still exhausted from the trip to Earth, summoned up the last of her energy to flounce towards the other fighter, greeting her with a headbutt and then ducking under her chin to brush their pelts together. "Have fun on Earth, darling?" She purred, eyes glinting playfully and tone dripping with mischief.

Rei was one of the first to make it through the arch, her stomach filling almost instantly as she crossed the threshold onto their planets familiar gray rock. She smiled, almost cockily as the exhaustion fled from her bones, ready for another grand journey once her armor was repaired. With a confident gait, Rei strode towards the mountains, only hesitating when the ground shook beneath her and the world around began to change before her very eyes. Like that of a child, she observed with excited glances though it all quickly faded when from the corner of her eye she spotted Jet. Friends for as long as Rei could remember, practically inseparable. Rei met Jet's headbutt with ease, grinning as she did so before allowing Jet to get more friendly. "If you can call mountains of sand and hardly a nights sleep I would say so." Rei protested playfully in response, her eyes glinting with joy to see her friend before her. "Surely Ethereal could have picked a more amusing patch of land to travel to." The female said, flicking her tail.
