Rp for Mephisto and NyxNyx finished her lessons for the day, a little more tired than she usually felt afterwards. The Cubs today where a little more hyper than they usually act, but she still enjoyed the day overall. Her life's passion was in watching those Cubs grow, no matter the trouble. Something about the day though, made her feel a little more restless, and a little more lonely. She stretched and looked around the land trying to find someone who didn't look busy, but found no one.
she twitched her tail, and the made the unconscious choice to go on a long aimless walk. Her attention was placed in all the wrong directions. Instead of watching where she was going, she watched the sky. She had always had a slightly childish love of stars, as she felt her pelt gave the. Something in common. She felt at ease, though a small voice had pop into her head, warning she would watch where she was going.

The forest had always been a sort of sanctuary for Mephisto. Whether he was pondering what he would do on that day during the wee hours of the morning or settling down to rest under the stars, he was often found here. He remembered events that were cloaked in the hot, afternoon sun. The battles today were a cinch, he thought. Mephisto was showing off earlier, fighting without his armor and all. He absent mindedly looked at his shoulder where a small but fresh slice was made. It would leave no mark once it healed, but he wanted to kick himself for getting an injury in front of some lionesses. Didn't matter...
The great male rose to his feet and yawned, beginning his trip back to his den. He was still lost in thought when he bumped into someone; Nyx. "Hey, watch where you're going!" He instantly threw the blame on the girl although they both were at fault for daydreaming. "Had I been a predator, I'd have you ripped to pieces by now." he gave her a growl and a glare with his toxin green eyes.

Nyx immediately jumped back at the touch of another lions body, a ball of shadow appearing behind her, that remained unformed as she regained composure. "I'm sorry, " she said quickly, thinking, by his comments, the the blame could only be here, it was true she wasn't paying attention. His tone was a little to harsh to her, but she felt she had no grounds to argue, as he was probably right about that too. It wasn't like her to cause trouble anyways, so she meekly nodded instead.
She then became aware of the ball of darkness she had formed behind her. "Not the best defense" she muttered to herself, thinking of her students. It surely wasn't how she would tell one with the element of darkness to react to what could be a threat. She fizzled the ball away, then looked at Mephisto with renewed awareness of his presence.

The brute male gave a huff of dominance as if to say 'that's right, you should be sorry' but didn't want to actually scare her into a fight either. Instead, he gave an insulting chuckle at her reflexes to for a cloud behind her, meanwhile, his own essence of disease lingered behind him from the tip of his tail spines. Tired and bruised from his own hard day's work, he dropped the incident. It wasn't like him to actually cause a fight with another pride member anyway even if he wasn't on many nice lists.
"Why head into the woods at this hour anyway? You don't seem the type that would, er... defend themselves if danger had spotted you. We don't need any fatalities for nothing." Mephisto's voice softened, but remained stern, as was his usual way of speaking. "It would be best for you to stay near the pack, unless you have something you need to attend to outside?" He smirked, his bearded muzzle parting ways to glistening teeth. He thought maybe her passive act was simply JUST an act. Maybe she was darker than she was letting on? He just waited for her to respond, to tell him herself and reveal who she was.

Nyx looked a little sheepish. She didn't want to admit that she was aimlessly wandering, daydreaming about time since passed. She also knew though, that she could not come up with a lie fast enough. "Well I was felling...feeling-well you don't need to know that. I decided to go on a walk, and I started daydreaming, and I stopped paying attention to where I was going" she said, getting the words out as soon as she could, so that she could at last try and distract him from any further embarrassment. Her tail dropped at the thought of how stupid she probably sounded.
She racked her brain for anything to say, something to change topics. She glanced at the forest, in general it wasn't a place she'd find herself, though she did no someone who use to visit there quite a bit. "My sister use to love coming to here, for some reason," she spoke, though already assuming it wouldn't be a good enough topic change. She generally avoided the topic of her sister, and was almost regretting that she brought her u to begin with.

((my apologies for such a late post. Work had me a bit overwhelmed))
The thick brute lowered his head slightly. Clearly this was a harmless lion, but an interesting one nonetheless. "Hm, well, if you and your sister used to come here, I assume you know the place well enough. Just don't go walking into trees." He smirked, rather teasingly, at the lioness. Clearing his throat, he took the reigns, getting bored of simply standing idle. "Anyway, I suddenly feel restless. How about you show me where your sister used to go?" He said this in a dark tone and his gaze bored into her eyes... 'used to', the lioness said. "Why doesn't she come here anymore?" he forced a straight face, though eager to know.

(No problem, happens to us all!)
"Trees eh heh," stammered with an awkward laugh, not sure how to react to what she thought was a bit go humor. She shifted her weight, the stretched her neck upwards, trying to feign some form of confidence, trying to draw from her teaching skills. He next words flow over her head for a moment, and as such, she replied later than she should have. "Oh, uh, this way" she said, padding softly in front of him, now nervous that she would forget how to get where she was going. She tried her best to get ahead go the lion before answering his final question, hoping she wouldn't tear up, but not wanting him to see her if she did.
"My sister was a warrior, a Fighter rank. We were very close" She said quietly, some pressure in her voice when she spoke about her closeness. "She loved fighting, maybe more than I love teaching. I always hope some of the cubs would grow up to fight with the same spirit she had. But you know how war is. She didn't come back. Many don't come back from, and with a war like this..." he speaking trailed off, but she was looking back at him, also hoping he'd are with her. Before giving him and opening to speak though she added, "I wasn't naturally adventures, but she kinda brought that out in me. Got into quite a bit of trouble as a a kid, she did."

The stocky male followed close beside Nyx. Even as she rose to full height, he kept his own confidence up. He gave her a sympathetic chuckle when she seemed unsure of where to go.
Mephisto listened to the story in silence. A smirk formed over his muzzle and faded quickly before she looked back at him. No, he didn't find humor in her tale, but he remembered things about his own past, things that Nyx just reminded him of. "Yes, war sure is... something else. Though where would we be without it? In the gut of a predator? Slaves to some creature? Hmph, no. War is necessary to keep the freedom we have. Your sister and many like her fought so you didn't have to die a worse death." As he spoke he slowly got closer to her until his neon eyes bore into hers. "I fight for this pride as a Tank to regain what I lost in my old home. Everyone I ever knew, like them or not, either died or vanished. Wipe your eyes and hold your head high, or else your sister died for nothing." His words were always straight forward. Mephisto never mourned death, but saw it as a sacrifice that needed to be honored. This girl in front of him could love it or hate it about him.

Nyx looked at the lion, scared for a moment. Had she mistepped? She usually did her best to not anger others, and the idea panicked her for a moment. She was quiet for a bit as she walkied, trying to make sure she didn't cross a line. "I always hope that the cubs I train will carry her spirit, her bravery" Nyx said a lighter, though more cautious tone. "It''s my duty to the pride that I cultivate each child to be the best. When a future warrior comes, I want them to be like her. She was never afraid to die, and was always willing to stand up what she believed in." As she spoke. Nyx looked for a certain twisted trees, than headed behind it. She glanced at the claw marks on the tree, made by her sister in case the pair forgot, and quickly snapped her head away, trying not to think to hard on the safer sides of life.
"We mostly came out her to talk, or to pratice. Let's just say she didn't always like her fellow warriors," she said, glancing at him, " and some cub are a little more troublesome than others. "

The male thought for a moment on her words. Was she trying to relive her memories of her fallen sister through the cubs she trained? Or did the fae really just want the cubs to be powerful... He doubted that she wanted the cubs to dive headfirst into death. Either way, she was going about it the right way. He lightened up, seeing she was afraid of how he carried himself. Instead of prying info out of her, he instead glanced at the tree. "Must have trained rather hard to do this sort of damage to the wood. Must have been tough, for a lioness... If she is as strong as you boast, then the cubs you're training to be like her must be brave, too." He smirked, looking around. Indeed, there seemed to be some heavy training happening in the location. "So... is there anything actually worth seeing out here, or is it all just sentimental?"

"She was a double elemental, darkness and Ice. She's was also a bit...clawsy. Packed a real punch. Use to have her come talk about the importance of non elemental combat. Now," She stopped, checking her location, before or heading directly to the left, "I just get cubs asking me why, if she was so strong, that she died. Unfortunately, strength isn't everything." He tail twitched as she thought about the cubs, how they could pester her sometimes. She cut off her own thoughts though, as she approached at tree, larger than the rest. Upon it were what looking like markings and drawings, crudely carved. Each carving seemed to show something vastly different from the next. "I have no clue where these came from, but we use to come out here and try to figure it out. I still do every now and them. Can't make heads or tails of it, and I've never run into another lion around here."
