It was morning, the den was dark. The fireplaces that resided in each room were dim, with the residence still sleeping. Despite the darkness of the den and the fact that the stars were still out, the warrior who called the den home knew it was morning. As he began to stir and wake up, the fires within the fireplaces grew and began to warm the den back up. Khuza sighed as he got to his feet and stretched. As he did he sent up a silent prayer of thanks that he was allowed to have a few days of rest before going back to the war, then he shook out his fur and looked around for his den mate. As he walked out of his room, he paused, suddenly remembering that his old friend, Xerxes, no longer lived with him. Khuza let out a sigh, wishing his old den mate didn't insist on leaving, before continuing with his morning.

Nissa, parents still sleeping, had slunk out of the family's den. The small, darkly colored cub had fond somewhere still warn and laid there to watch the stars intently. She had been there for hours, immobile and silent as a dead flower. The cub was beginning to fall asleep however, her crimson hues dipping behind her eyelids. Genesis would wake soon, knowing Nissy had wandered about the dens until she found a suitable spot to lay and watch the sky.

Phycodurus had felt terrible for her mate. He had somewhat lost his best friend, all for falling in love with herself. After learning of Xerxes' action, she had withdrawn from Khuza- and the entire pride- for a few days. What the brightly-colored lion had done only reminded her that she was no natural. That she was still some sort of an enigma. Now she poked her head into the den and she Khuza were to share, a concerned look on her face. "Khuza..?" she murmured, her worry heavily lacing her words. It was clear the leafy lioness still felt terrible.

Gemstone lay in a shallow pit she had found, watching how the light of the cosmos above her danced off the stone. She had formed a thin layer of smooth, clear, crystal over the dull grey rock, and seeing how the light reflected off of it was wondrous to her. Ruby and Sapphire lay not far off, still asleep in the small cave the three of them had made shelter in for that night. The three-eyed cub had always been an early bird, and did enjoy being able to watch the planet awaken. Well, except for the spirits that wandered the Unknown with no purpose other than to satisfy their primal instincts. She shuttered at the thought and began to rise to her paws. The idea of something being out there, watching her and ready to hunt and kill her, made her want to wander closer back to her guardians.

Shuffling through the Healer's den, Panacea was quick on her feet to help the next injured lion. Her heart pumped and her face showed enthusiasm, a true reflection of her heart. She continued working until the den seemed clear of injured or sick lions. And although that did take a while to clear out, Pan was grateful for a break. Lifting her aching paws one at a time, she carries herself out of the stuffy cavern and into the open, fresh air. The stars twinkled brilliantly as they always did. Panacea took a deep, silent breath, in awe by the starry night. She often did this and usually without the company of others, which bothered her none. It was hard to talk to a lion who couldn't talk back, after all.

Nereus was rolling around, enjoying his time before he had to begin his duties, which wouldn't start for a few more days. As a freshly grown lion, Nereus was still getting used to his new body. He found that his strength had increased, he was able to control his elements more effectively and easily, and his speed had grown incredibly, which always helped for his misadventures, although he never saw them that way. His pelt had grown thicker, his pupils shined brighter, and overall, Nereus just felt new, and he enjoyed every second of it.

As Khuza was tending to the large fireplace in the main chamber of the den, clearing it of ashes and making sure it would burn without him having to focus on keeping it going, he suddenly heard the voice of his mate and his ears instantly perked up. "Phy!" He said giving her a still drowsy smile as he left the fireplace and went up to her. "Good morning," He said happily as he touched his nose to hers, but then he noticed her worried expression, "Whats wrong?" He tilted his head, his face clouding with worry much like hers.

Walking along a secluded path, strode a massive black lion. He was covered in scars and his tail shard was broken. Hodurgan was heading to what may be his last time teaching for a long while. He had missed several training sessions, having had other cub trainers teach his students while he was out. The solitary male had heard rumors that many suspected he was off seeing a mysterious female and that he may be settling down to have a family soon. For a while he fed these rumors, though they were far from the truth. In reality, Hodurgan had been seeking off to the rebel camp, and was functioning as a spy, though due to his reputation from battle, his rank among the rebels would be increasing soon. He suspected he would be leading battles and raids soon, and then he would put all the rumors to rest. But for now, Hodur was still the battle scarred cub trainer that everyone knew him to be. The big brute sighed and shook out his mane as he entered the training grounds to wait for the other trainers and his students.

Phy smiled slightly, resting her cheek against his briefly and taking in his scent. "I'm fine, Khuza. Just worried about you. Are.. you okay?" she asked, her short, leafy tail swaying nervously as she asked. He had always been there for her when she needed it most. She felt like she needed to be there for him in his hour of need as well.

Calming her nerves after her fright, Gemstone pulled herself together and pushed herself to go on a small adventure. She remained low to the ground and kept the eye on her forehead closed but not so tightly that it showed. Years of having to keep her mutation hidden had taught her many ways to hide it. Her most common was simply keeping it closed. She tried not to stir up any dust with her movements, and keep her eyes opened for any signs of life in the Unknown, especially being she and her 'parents' were so close to the Pride's territory.

Vani woke to the early morning quietly, taking in the sight of her snoozing family and taking her leave from the dens. She had kept close to her family, but as of late, grew claustraphobic in their small den. Stretching her limbs, she wandered out into the long grass away from the dens, her silver eyes watching the sky change colors as the moons moved into the sky to cast light on the territory. It was still early in the night- yet a perfect time for the quiet she came to love. She almost hadnt realized there was another lion out until she was too close to leave without being noticed. She shifted her gaze down onto the other female and gave a small smile and nod, a silent hello for the other lioness that was admiring the night.

Khuza smiled at his mate, "Yes I'm fine," he said then his expression slowly changed to a sadder one, "I'm just worried for, Xerxes. He's never lived completely on his own before..." The horned male shook his head still not fully understanding why Xerxes insisted on moving out. Khuza waved his tail, attempting to dismiss the topic, and instead smiled once again. "Why don't we go on a walk? I don't know if we'll get the chance to again any time soon." Arcturus's son meant the comment lightly, though behind his calm, casual words was a deeper meaning. Khuza could not ignore the war forever...

As the pride began to slowly awaken, a faint jingling could suddenly be heard as a pair of cubs started to head off to training. Two cubs, twin sisters, were heading to their first lesson. They were a strange pair, having decorated themselves in beautiful jewelry, they gave off an exotic air wherever they went. One of the sisters, bearing darker fur and a rather serious expression talked to her sister in a hushed tone, "Who do you suppose will be teaching us, Ra?" Dior asked. Though calling her sister Ra, this was not her true name. The Pride knew them to be the nomadic twins, Ra and Diur, that were staying and training with the pride; however, their true names were Sekhmet and Ceravindae. "Do you think we'll get any scars from training?" Sekhmet asked, waiting patiently for her sisters response.
